Bob
Bob was a vice president at one of the major Bay Area software companies, gay, and extremely reserved; fittingly he lived in a beautiful, spotless, meticulously decorated house in a rich part of San Francisco. But he was also a raver who had discovered the magic of Ecstasy -- and he decided to devote his life's work to the religious uses of this drug. To this end, he quit his job and founded the Council on Spiritual Practices, working behind the scenes to convince academics, Catholic priests, psychiatrists, etc. of the benefits of Ecstasy and other "entheogens" in generating "direct experience of the sacred". Recently his organization even published a book by Huston Smith, perhaps the most famous writer on religion in the world, about drug-related religious experiences. His highly reserved manner, his level of self-control, his belief in a gradualist approach towards change, and his impeccable credentials as a top business leader make him one of the best possible spokepersons on behalf on the legimitate spiritual benefits that can be gained from controlled use of Ecstasy and other entheogens.
